I mentioned elsewhere how fun it is to live in a state that has ferries that take you across the water to various locations. Even better when I can ride a ferry to one of my favorite coffee shops. Park the car near the Kingston ferry in Edmonds, walk on for a twenty minute ride across the Puget Sound and, after a short walk, you’re at Over The Moon Coffee Roasters!
This is another coffee shop frequented by the various ferry travelers. So the line to order coffee ebbs and flows with the arrival of the ferries. But it is also a very community oriented business, so many locals make their way in for a coffee and pastry.
It is another great energy place in which to work! There is something delightful about the vibe of people either just visiting Kingston or passing through on their way to other fun areas. Even an introvert like myself enjoys being around happy people!
They have a variety of beverage options, pasties and breakfast items. I try to get there early enough to get the chorizo breakfast burrito before they run out. There is seating inside, out in front of the building and they have a deck in back.
They often showcase artwork from local artists with items for sale. They have a little library, if you forgot a book to read. And they have expressed an interest in having author book signings in their shop.
The ferry ride over helps me to clear my mind as I prepare to write for a couple of hours at Over the Moon. When I’m done, I may grab a crepe across the street or a slice of pizza on my walk back to the ferry. It is a pleasant way to spend a few hours and get some writing done!
