About Me
This is likely the most boring part of the site. Skip it if you want. I won’t be offended.
As of now, I am 67 years old and I have wanted to be a writer for nearly 45 of those years. For the past 3 years, I have actually been a writer. (More about that later)
Much of my life was spent in the Midwest, but I transferred for my job to Seattle over 25 years ago. And I have felt more at home here in the Pacific Northwest than anywhere else.
My varied careers have included health care, the computer field, consulting and freelance writing. It’s been an interesting life, full of different experiences. But, early on, I came to understand that was what my life was about – having experiences.
I’ve also developed a “been there done that” attitude about many of those experiences. So, it’s a constant effort looking for new things to experience.
As you might guess, this particular mindset is perfect for a vivid imagination. And what better tool can a writer have but a good imagination? Especially in science fiction, which I consider one of the major “what if” endeavors in writing.
At this point in my life, I don’t have to worry about a career, a house or a fancy car, so there is more time to focus on my writing. I have a mission and part of that mission is to write a book, which is nearly complete. It’s been a fascinating four years as I get the book out of my head into a manuscript.
I expect that I have gone through many of the same experiences that other first-time novel writers do. Some were likely unique to me. This blog is based on sharing some of those experiences so someone else may benefit.
There’s no doubt that this is the most frightening, fulfilling and energizing time of my life.
So, if you actually read this page, thanks! And be open to whatever experiences you are inspired to have as you skim through the rest of this site.
