And if you’ve consumed some of his blog, then you must already know about his book 250 Things You Should Know About Writing.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then stop reading this and head over to his website. I’ll wait.
His book, 250 Things You Should Know About Writing, is fascinating. It’s like sitting in a bar next to a guy that you keep buying drinks for to keep him talking about his life. Nothing is held back. Nothing is sugar coated.
From being a writer to how to write dialogue, plot and character development, the book is full of what he has learned about writing. While you could pick this book up and read it cover to cover over the weekend, I’ve enjoyed just reading a few points at a time during a break in my writing.
It gives my subconscious mind time to digest his thoughts. Which are deep, and often right in your face.

“Why Bad Decisions Are A Good Decision,” and “I Want To Buy The Semi-Colon A Private Sex Island” are just a couple of points he makes that will keep you guessing. There are no sacred cows here. And if you are easily offended, well then, you might want to rethink your choice of a writing career. Did I mention that he is often right in your face?
Besides being an entertaining read, this book is full of great information. It is educational hearing Chuck’s perspective on the writing life. And as I have progressed in my writing endeavor, I’ve discovered a lot of truth in what he says.
This is just one of many books that Chuck has written. If you’re a writer or even just contemplating that life, pick this book up now and spend some time with it.
